What toner to use to get caramel? ›

Once the hair is pre-lightened to the desired level, apply a toner of Wella Professionals Color Touch 7/97 + Color Touch 8/0 to get that perfect caramel finish.

To use, simply apply to hair, leave it on for up to three minutes (depending on your desired amount of neutralization) and rinse.

While conventional hair dyes can contain harsh chemicals that damage hair with frequent use, Aveda's approach ensures that your hair remains healthy and lustrous after each coloring session. You don't have to choose between your natural color and having your hair colored by harsh chemicals.

Caramel color is produced from commercially available nutritive sweeteners consisting of fructose, dextrose (glucose), invert sugar, sucrose, malt syrup, molasses, starch hydrolysates, and fractions thereof.

Caramel coloring is made by heating a sugar compound (usually high-dextrose corn syrup), often together with ammonium compounds, acids, or alkalis. It is the most widely used (by weight) coloring added to foods and beverages, with hues ranging from tannish-yellow to black, depending on the concentration and the food.

To create a caramel balayage, your colorist will paint ribbons of gold, blonde, and light brown highlights throughout your mane. The result is a warm color between blonde and brown that mimics the delicious, rich hue of this sugary syrup.
